Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

terminated lease

i broke a rental agreement, they are now threatening litigation. this was jan. 2007, there was another person on the lease with me. we were current on our rent and the apartment was rented out immediately. Am I responsible for this & will the court order me (us) to pay?

There are a lot more facts that would have to be analyzed to determine what, if any liability you have to the landlords. The damages they may be entitled to are the loss of rent from the time you vacated the property until it was relet. They may also collect the cost of remarketing the property. If there was damage beyond normal wear & tear to the apartment, and it exceeded your security deposit, they may collect that from you. There are a myriad of questions one would need answered before anyone can opine as to your potential liability. This forum is not really designed to allow that kind of indepth review to be done.
