Legal Question in Legal Ethics in California

a signed contract

bought a car on 7-21-01.... we said this is how much we have to put down, this is what we want our payment to be, we want the loan so many months, etc. We had a trade in, as well. We were told that we would get a certain dollar amount on our trade in. Again, payments, interest rate, term of the loan, etc were agreed upon and after about an hour of haggling back and forth... we were told that we were approved and to go and sign all the contract papers in the Finance Office. We did so. The deal was signed and sealed. Well, today, 08-07-01. I just happened to call the bank who i had my trade in with. It has been what about 17 days since we signed our contract, signed over my trade in vehicle, and drove our new car home. Well, the finance man told me that the bank that we were told had approved us, basically told the dealership that they needed 2500.00 more and they returned our loan file to the dealership... I also called the credit union and the lady i spoke with told me that the file had been returned to the dealership and that I needed to contact them. The finance man made reference to getting another 2500.00 from me and I told him he was nuts. What do u think?
