Legal Question in Legal Ethics in California

Can I be sued for verbally agreeing to buying a horse, but said needed to figure out what to do with my other horse. Now my plans fell through and am no longer able to take the horse, the owner who is an attorney in California is now saying I broke a verbal agreement and says if I don't go through that she is going to take me to court. Would this hold up in court?

You don't provide enough detail to detrmine whether or not all the elements necessary to create a binding verbal agreement exist or not. And if a contract WAS formed, "said needed to figure out what to do with my other horse" is too vague to tell if you actually created a conditional contract, or were making conversation.
