Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in California

Crown and Root Canal - Same tooth, Same Week!?

Went to the dentist and after looking at my x-rays he stated that 4 of my molars needed Crowns, possible root canals. He did two crowns - those turned out ok. The other two he did 5 days ago. The 2nd set hurt the day after and the pain got worse by the day. I went into the Dr's office and they took another x-ray of the molars with pain. He said I will need 1 possibly 2 root canals.

My question, is if there was a possibility that I would need a root canal - why didn't he notice it on the xray before? Keep in mind, the original xrays he looked at were 1 week old. Why did he do the crown? Now I have to pay double on 1 tooth. Am I missing something? Is this reasonable?

I would suggest you get a copy of your x-rays and chart, and take them and your mouth to a dentist who specializes in those types of things. If the dentist already messed it up, do you think he/she will admit that there was an error? If you have dental insurance, check with your insurance carrier about paying for a second opinion.
