Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in California

Statute of Limitations

What is the statute of limitations for Medical Malpractice? My friend's son was prescribed a dangerous combination of medications for seizures and the doctor only increased the dosage and never ran tests and it wasn't until mom insisted that ER admit him and NOT call his neurologist did she find out the combination of meds was dangerous and could have killed her son.
