car accident insurance settlement

once a car accident insurance settlement is signed, is there anyway to re-negotiate it? the date of the accident is wrong on the settlement agreement, and the company totally ripped me off

The answer depends upon what the agreement says. Chances are, though, that it's too late to do anything more.

The agreement almost surely contains a waiver of further claims. It's hard to get around such a waiver once you have signed it.

The error about the date of the accident is very unlikely to matter, unless it creates real ambiguity -- as, for example, it might if you were involved in another accident on that date.

If you felt you were being ripped off, why did you agree to the settlement? Why not consult a PI atty before signing off? The date of loss mistake is probably a typo and may not be enough to void the contract but you can try. Next time, get some help a lot sooner.
