Fell off the truck

While driving, an object fell off my truck into the street. A driver in the opposing lane struck the object before I could retrieve it, causing damage to her tire and rim. Who is liable to pay for the damages?

It depends on whether the other driver should reasonably have seen and avoided the object. This of course involves other factors such as the size of the object and the time of day. Lucky for you no one was hurt.
