Legal Question in Personal Injury in California

Without my knowledge my boyfriend has recorded our telephone conversations for years now, I did not know at the time that he was recording the phone conversations, and i would like those files returned to me before we break up as they were very private conversations.

If you can prove in court that he recorded your phone calls without your consent, you have a free lawsuit against him for $5000 per recording. You could prove this (for example) through other witnesses, if he admitted it to you in an email or text message, or if you could get copies of the files without him knowing (and without your doing anything illegal or dumb). Watch out for legal time limits. I'd like to hear more.

Follow Mr. Stone's advice. Also get some type of protection against his makilng additional copies or not turning everything over by getting him to sign an agreement tht if he has not gien you all the tapes that he consents to a judgment beilng taken against you wlithin X period of time of your discovering that, his immediately giving you for \a few months any devices he has that could record/re-record more tapes.
