Legal Question in Personal Injury in California

lawyer lied to me

Ok my lawyer told me no medical bills. He also waited 9 months and then paid for transportation for cortozone shots I didn't want. Then I was told I have to pay that bill. But I was told in the begining no medical bill and again for the shots no bills. That 9 months put my case off another year. Then the ins. co. doctored wanted to see my mri's..which I had. And the lawyer didn't tell me. That wasted another year. The ins. co. paid out the full amount of the ins. But now the lawyer wants to charge me a higher fee and well the shots came to 44k, which he says he got reduced to 24k. Which in total would leave me with 24k. The thing is if I had no medical bills I would be getting 67k.....So yes I am a little pissed. I am not signing off so any bills can be paid. And he seems to not want to talk to me anymore. I was told he would call me, but has not yet done so. I have called his office a few times now.

Re: lawyer lied to me

It's unlikely that the lawyer promised you would not have to pay the medical bills even if you won the case. Much of the reason you're getting a settlement is so you can pay those bills, and it would make no sense to give that money to you while leaving the doctors, labs, etc. unpaid.

Your lawyer did you a service by negotiating your bills from $44,000 to $24,000. That extra $20,000 will end up in your pocket. Your resentment seems misplaced.
