Re: attorney fees

There are a large number of companies associated with law firms that charge $2,000-$4,000 for a modification. You need to check with the Better Business Bureau and the State Bar to see if there are any compliants against them. You should not agree to pay an attorney a 1/3rd contigency fee which can e imposed upon your property as a lien. If the attorney suggests that you can rescind the contract, find out what the attorney also feels you wil have to pay the lender to put them back in the pre-agreement position, as that is the requirement of ending the contract. You can not terminate the contract but keep the money from the lender. Mr. Moschopoulos is very correct that you must be careful.

Re: attorney fees

They vary and you should be careful. There are a lot of individuals offering loan modifications these days that are simply scamming good people in difficult spots out of their hard earned money. Proceed with extreme caution.

Best of Luck.
