Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

lien on real property

I was shocked to learn a lien was put on the property where I reside, but the judgment came out of a county in which I do not own property. I didn't even know there had been a filing in that county! Will the judgment stand up or could I have it removed?

Re: lien on real property

If there is a judgment against you and you really never heard about it, and you have a legal basis to defend the case, you have a one-time shot at getting it set aside, you must act very quickly from the time that you learn of the judgment.

If you received the original lawsuit and you merely blew it off or chose not to do anything about it, you are out of luck.
