Legal Question in Tax Law in California

Is the CPA responsible and should he pay?

Who's responsible for paying the penalties and interest to the IRS? CPA failed to send in an extension form 4768? The taxpayer who used this CPA has already paid the irs over $7000.00 for the CPA's misconduct.

Re: Is the CPA responsible and should he pay?

If the CPA was to file extensions or the actions indicated he was to, then he or she should be responsible.

Re: Is the CPA responsible and should he pay?

You are ultimately responsible to the IRS for any penalties and interest. The CPA may be responsible to you if he did not perform properly.
