Legal Question in Traffic Law in California

Last night I used my mothers handicap sign to park and go into the store, I have severe vertigo which limits how far I can walk without falling over and I was having a very bad day. I got a ticket and A court date for a misdemeanor, Is there any way I can get out of this? I have a actual medical condtion and I now am getting my own handicap place card. Will any of this make a difference and most importantly will I go to jail, Ive never done anything wrong before in my life and Im really freaking out.

You definitely will not go to jail. Many misdemeanor convictions result only in a fine. If you look up the vehicle code section you violated, it should state what the punishment can be. You can politely ask the traffic court judge at the initial hearing to reduce the fine if you plead guilty and pay it immediately, explaining why you did what you did and it was with your mother's permission, but you are clearly guilt of what you are charged with.
