Legal Question in Traffic Law in California

Suspended licence/SR-22

In order for me to continue my driving privileges I need to maintain insurance coverage/SR-22 on file with the DMV, Now my question to you is can the insurance company continue to provide you coverage/SR-22 while your license is still suspended. Because Im thinking that as long as an insurance company continues to provide coverage and they notify the DMV of such coverage, and you've paid the re-issuance fee to the DMV, you've done what is required to re-instate your license, but yet your license is still suspended and your still paying for insurance coverage/SR-22 and Im still driving to work thinking everything is o.k. But then BOOM! I get pulled over taking my daughter to school and guess what a fat ticket for driving with a suspended license. Im looking at 30 days w/fines because of my priors. Somebody please help me.

Thank you,

Your license is still suspended until the DMV notifies you otherwise. However, good faith belief that your license was valid due to the conditions you've stated in your Q could be a defense to driving on a suspended license.

You will not be able to get an answer without providing more information regarding the circumstances of your license suspension and other factors in your case. If you cannot afford to hire an attorney you should ask for an appointed attorney to represent you.
