Legal Question in Traffic Law in California

Yeah, I'm not too bright. But, I got 2 driving under suspended license tickets with FTAs over a year ago in California. I now live in Louisville, KY and can't take time off work to go back to CA to take care of them. I can't get a drivers license out here now, and it is really holding me up. Any suggestions? I can't get anyone live on the LA County court phones lines due to " budget cuts." Can I appoint someone in CA power of attorney to help me take care of it? Thanks for any advice.

My suggestion is that you hire a lawyer. No one else would be entitled to appear in a criminal matter for you. "Power of attorney" is not the same thing as having a lawyer. You are dealing with 2 misdemeanors. Once these 2 misdemeanors are taken care of, you will be able to get a license in Kentucky. If you'd like to discuss this with me, don't hesitate to contact me at 310 393 0639. Good luck. Steve Mandell

No, power of attorney won't do it. You need a lawyer to appear on your behalf, get the warrants recalled and resolve the cases as favorably as they can so you can get your license. Look for an attorney in the county where your cases(s) are and somebody that routinely gets to those courts.
