Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

I am an only child between my mother and father. My father passed away in 1981. My mother still lives in the same house that he died in. I have no idea if he left a Will. I have never been given any kind of information as to what she has been living on all these years. I do not know if he had left me anything. I was a minor child at the time of his death. ( My mother does not work ) My mother and I are not on speaking terms because of a different matter. How do I find anything out in regard to this?

I have searched several "missing / unclaimed money websites" to no avail.

There's not a lot you can do, as your mother doesn't owe you an obligation to inform you of her estate plan.

What you can do, however, is to obtain a copy of the current vesting deed (the last recorded deed) to your mother's home. By examining the deed, you can determine whether or not your mother created a trust, but her attorney won't provide you with any information even if you find out who that attorney is.
