Generally, however, if the successor trustee is now the trustee, for all intents and purposes, the trustee can remove items from the home for safekeeping. If a family member, who must also be a beneficiary of the trust, believes the trustee is taking items for their own use or gain, the beneficiary can demand an accounting from the trustee. If the trustee is non-responsive or untruthful in their response, the beneficiary can seek judicial review of the trustee's actions, including removal of the trustee.
