Legal Question in Immigration Law in Canada

Hi,

I live in Sweden. In Feb.2010 I applied for US immigration since my wife is an American and we wanted to move to America. In May 2010, the company I work for decided to send all its employees to Quebec.

I received my US immigration visa and package in July 2010 with a 6 month validity. My company in Sweden applied for Canadian skilled worker immigration visas for all its employees, including me and I am expected to move to Canada in 2 weeks from now. According to my work contract, I need to inform my employers of my resignation at least 3 months beforehand, so I have to go to Canada now.

My intention is to have my resignation completed in Canada before the 6 month validity of my US immigration visa expires.

Question: Could my situation cause the Canadian officials at the entry point not to grant me a work visa? And later on, will this affect my US immigration visa negatively?

You will become a lawful permanent resident of the USA after you first entry into the USA on an immigrant visa AND after you establish residency in USA.

US immigration law requires all permanent residents to actually establish residency in the country, file taxes, live and work in USA. The situation where an immigrant comes to the country, receives a green card and immediately leaves to another country to live and work there, will raise questions with the US immigration.

You may want to consult a US immigration lawyer for further information and advice, and Canadian lawyer in regard to your Canadian visa issues.
