Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Colorado

Debtor tries to pay loan using post dated checks from Las Vegas.

I loaned money to a friend and I hold an unsecured promissory note. The loan is two months past due. The debtor wants to pay with post dated checks drawn on a Las Vegas NV account. When can I deposit those checks here in Colorado? Does Las Vegas have different banking laws than other states? I am sure there are no funds in the LV account. How do I collect on this loan?

Depending on the amount and terms of the promissory note, you might be better off having the debtor sign another promissory note. I would have to review the documents to properly advise.
