Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Colorado

Ordering from someone elses catalog.

My soon-to-be son-in-law's aunt ordered merchandise out of his fingerhut catalog and has not paid the bill. She did it without his knowledge. What can he do?

I don't understand. What did she do wrong? What do you mean that she ordered from his catalog? She had to have paid with her own credit card, right? He's not tagged with her bill, right? Or does Fingerhutt extend credit? I don't see the problem. Who has the merchandise?

If she ordered in her own name, and the merchandise was sent to her address, he's probably in pretty good shape. If, however, she ordered in his name, and the merchandise was sent to his address, and he kept the merchandise, then he has a bigger problem.

Either way, he must notify Fingerhut immediately that she was not authorized to use his account, and he should advise the company that he will not be responsible.

Did she forge his signature? Perhaps he should make a formal complaint to the police.
