Legal Question in Criminal Law in Colorado

I was charged 5 years ago with arson. At first it was a felony but I pleaded guilty to a misormeanor. And so far since then I have not got in trouble since...I can not get housing or a decent job to support my four kids because of my pass! what can I do??

What you can do is support the bill before the Colo. legislature that would allow you to seal your criminal record even if you were convicted. Right now Colo. law says that you cannot seal the record unless you were acquitted at trial or the charges were dismissed. We need the state house/senate to pass this bill and we need the governor to sign it.

You can call the State Legislature and ask about hearings on the criminal records sealing bill and who you might contact to tell your story about how the current inability to seal records for minor and long-ago offenses continues to harm individuals and families.
