Legal Question in Criminal Law in Colorado

Double Jeperdy

My daughter was arrested twice for the same crime . the second time she was arrested, she had been sentenced the day before for the same crime. Nobody had taken her warrant out of the computor. Do we have a law suite for this kind of humiliation?

Re: Double Jeperdy

Perhaps, but not one worth pursuing. The system simply cannot respond as quickly as it should. This is not right, but it is the way of the world. Often folks are arrested on "old" warrants which should have been purged from the system but haven't because it takes from a few days to a few weeks depending upon circumstances.

Most of the trouble is caused by the fact that government employs too few people in this area, and they are marginally competent to do anything at all. We pay for that on that basis.

Juries don't give much for cases such as this, and most lawyers won't touch them. You are better advised to spend your money attempting to get better people in the system.
