Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Colorado

retreiveing my property

I lived with my freind and her mother for 3 months and contributed when I could. I never signed any agreement to pay any kind of rent, was never given a key. Now I have tried to get my clothes and other personal belongings out of their house but they won't let me without paying a bunch of money. property includes my laptap, my brothers DVD player, movies, my mom's microwave, my pills, and clothing. I moved in with them because the daughter and I were freinds and her mom is bi-polar--she has tried to kill herself at least once andshe has seizures. My freind did not have her license to drive and her and I drove together to work--usually in my car. How canI get my stuff?

You might ask the police if they'll accompany you to the house to get your stuff, though they won't be able to solve any ownership disputes. If you've kept receipts for what you bought, it could make a difference. You can also sue them in small claims court.

Good luck.
