Legal Question in Social Security Law in Colorado

Personnel issue
I retired 1.5 years ago and have recently been contacted by my ex-employer--the University of Colorado. They say they overpaid me for sick leave when I left employement. Now they want me to pay it back. Since it was their mistake, can they legally recover the overpayment from me? The amount is $2,239.

Even if it was their mistake, you must repay this unless you were actually entitled to the extra sick leave.
