Speeding ticket, no proof of insurance

On 7/3/03 (Thurs. Eve) my son recieved a speeding ticket while driving a friends car. The car was insured but he couldn't find proof of insurance at the time of the stop. 7/4/03 was a holiday and on 7/5/03 (Sat.)he had to leave for Germany(U.S.Army,PFC).I went to the court(Arvada Municipal Court) with proof of insurance dated the same day as the ticket. I was told they now needed a letter from the insurance company as proof and they would mail the ticket to him for the speeding portion, but beyond that they couldn't give me any info since my son is over 18 yrs old. I contacted the owner of the car who called his agent and had the letter sent to the court as requested. the court clerk I talked to said (after she went and talked to the Judge)that he would be given a 3wk extention (that was only 2 weeks ago). Now he is in Iraq and a warrent has been issued for his arrest. what are my/his options to get a continuance or plead guilty to get this cleared up? There was no way he could have delt with this before leaving and could not change his military orders.

Contact the presiding judge of the municipal court show him a copy of your son's orders and request a stay of execution on the bench warrant until he returns from Iraq. If you do not have any satisfaction please feel free to contact me, I do not routinely practice in that juridiction, however, I do have extensive experience with military clients.
