Reselling Brandname Clothing

Hi, Is it illegal to resell clothing online if you are not a licensed distributer of the brand? I see a lot of clothing being sold on e-bay which makes me lean toward it being legal. I'm still not sure though. Thanks in advance.

Almost certainly not "illegal" as in the government will arrest you or fine you. (You may have license and taxing issues to deal with though.) Also, probably not "illegal" as in they can sue you, unless you try to hold yourself out as a distributor (if you are not) and as long as you don't have a contract with any of the clothing companies.
