Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Connecticut

15 year old credit card debit

Hello, I just received a call from a bill collector saying that I owe 7,000.00 on a credit card that I didn't use over 15 years ago. My credit was wiped clean after my divorce and they claim since they can serve me a summons to pass a judgement against me taht I would be liable for this debt unless I can prove a dispute resolution or release from the credti card company. the company I bought furniture from no longer exists and they do not have any records regarding any charge.

what can I do?

Re: 15 year old credit card debit

You need to clarify your question. You say in the first sentence that you didn't use the credit card, but in the last sentence you say you may have bought furniture. You should demand proof of the charge from the collector. If they cannot provide proof, then you should dispute the charge.
