Inheritance

I'v been married for 24 years.I inherited a condo three years ago. I sold it and have 70k in cds.I have no pention or s.s. Will I have to share this if I get divorced?.My husband has a good secure job. We have no payments on our current home. thank you.

Assuming your husband makes a claim for a piece of the condo, a judge in Connecticut would consider a number of statutory factors regarding how to divide the marital estate. The condo would be part of the marital estate. Let's put it this way, the condo is not exempt from consideration. A judge would probably do what seemed fair under all the circumstances.

Any assets acquired during the marriage are subject to distribution. Thus, if you inherited a condo during the marriage it may be subject to distribution in the event of a divorce.
