loan release

I have a lien on my property (town records)from a loan that was paid off back in 1995, I can not find the release, how do I remove the lien form my property???

If possible, you should contact the lender that was paid off. That lender should be able to provide you with a duplicate release for filing on the land records. If the lender has been taken over by another lender, you should be able to get the duplicate release from the new lender. Keep in mind that the release you obtain must contain original signatures. If this does not work, depending on the circumstances, your attorney can probably prepare a statutory affidavit that can be recorded on the land records and release the lien.
