Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Connecticut

safe deposit box contents

a family member recently passed away in Connecticut, leaving a safe deposit box that the widow (second spouse) was not on the signature card for. How do the surviving children get access to that box? We know the deceased had it (____ told us) but we don't know which bank. We've tried calling banks, but they won't tell us whether they have a box in the deceased's name or not. What happens now?

Re: safe deposit box contents

Look at his check book for the last year. He'd have paid the box rental to the bank.
