Legal Question in Criminal Law in District of Columbia

Unsigned Order of Protection

I requested a Protection Order from the MD courts to protect my family from harassment but the individual intentionally evaded being served. She then in retaliation requested an Order of Protection which was issued against me during a DC court proceeding but I did not sign it due to court error. The individual who requested the OP continues to call and harrass me. I attempted to take out another OP which the court denied because she had a PO against me. I then attempted to speak with this person as an adult to ask her to stop. She now has me in court for violating this OP. I have proof this woman has been calling and harrassing me and my family. Do I have any recourse as the OP was never signed?

Re: Unsigned Order of Protection

The fact that you failed to sign the DC OP should in no way invalidate this particular order nor in and of itself legally excuse you from having to obey it.
