question on i94 in h1b extension

hi

i would like to apply for h1b extension...since my 3rd yr is expiring...

if my extension gets approved, will my new i94 number should match with my current i94?

please clarify..

No, I do not believe that any new I-94 number that is issued to you will necessarily match the one which you had previously.

You will be issued a new I-94 number. The I-94 number is not particularly important; rather, the class of admission and duration of status should be noted.
