Legal Question in Business Law in Florida

I owe Verizon $700 so I sent them $50 with a goal to pay them $50 every payday every two weeks. Verizon accepted the $50 I sent last payday but then called me today saying this is not acceptable. I am under the understanding that if a company accepts any payment made and a person makes regular payments eventhough it is less than the bill, they can not send to collection but must be patient. Is this true?

That is not true, unless you are making the agreed upon payments or have an agreement in writing. They do not have to be patient and can most definitely send you to a collection agency. My suggestion is that keep making payments and endure the phone calls, or get them to agree to a payment schedule in writing that states that so long as you make payments on time they will not send take additional action to recover, or send you to collections.
