Legal Question in Business Law in Florida

I paid first and last month of a commercial lease. The owner of the building needed our space to enlarge the space next to ours to get a larger tenant to lease. We were not making money in our business and thought leaving the space was a win win for both parties. The landlord is keeping the last months deposit because we did not finish the lease. Can we get that money returned?

This matter completely hinges on whether any of your agreement is in writing. If you simply vacated the premises, even if you believed that you were helping the landlord, then you may have forfeited your deposit. You should consult with a local attorney about this matter as soon as possible.
