Although you legally have the right to prosecute a case for yourself, you will stand little chance against an experienced litigator who has the experience and knowledge to run circles around you in court. Further, the handling of a major court case is a complex matter and you will not have the basic skills to try the case.

As other attorneys have suggested, if your case has merit, you will be able to find attorneys who will handle it on a contingency fee basis. If the attorneys shy away, then you should take the message and probably not proceed.

Yes, you have a right to represent yourself in court. However, the law is complex and chances are very good that you will lose if you go "toe-to-toe" against an attorney in a court of law. Also, remember the old saying that someone who represents himself has "a fool for a client". If this is securities litigation, you can probably find someone to take your case on contingency. If no attorney is willing to take your case on contingency, then that probably means you have a losing case.
