Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Florida

My roommate and I signed a lease in april of 2009. In order to physically move in, yo are required to make 3 times the rent, have established credit, or provide a proper cosigner. We were unable to provide any of the three. It says in the lease that the leasing mananger my void lease within 10 days of signing if requirements were not met. They waited until the day before move in to inform me that it was move in day. I was living in a new apt complex by this time, they found out where I had moved into since one of the leasing specialist ended up as my roommate thru roommate matching. She told the manager where I was living that I had a lease with them as well. They told us we still have to pay and our now suing us for 18,000. They also forged my roommates intial on one the papers. They lost the roommate matching form that we filled out and told us they don't do coed roommate matching since my roommate was male isn't that like sexual discrimination which the girl that we signed with told us that they could do it since they have couples signing all the time.
