Legal Question in Construction Law in Florida

House completion is delayed beyond contract.

I am having a house built in Port St Lucie, FL. We signed the biulding contract in August 2003. As per our contract, the house would be finished no later than August 2004. It is now mid-November 2004 and the completion date keeps getting pushed back even further. What can I do?

Re: House completion is delayed beyond contract.

You can demand adequate assurances in writing that the project will be completed within a reasonable time. You may also request a reason for the delay and current breach of contract. If the delays are unreasonable and depending on the particular circumstances, grounds for a claim may exist.
