Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

Approximately 10 years ago, I made a purchase for a family member who agreed to pay off the purchase. To my surprise, only monthly payments were made (late, missed payments, then none). The companywent out of business but forwarded my name to the Credit Bureau and I was penalized for (7) years. Now, just this year 2011, a new company assumed the debt and re-submitted my name to the Credit Bureau which caused my credit score to plumment. Is there any thing I can do to correct this and have my credit cleared.

Unless this debt was renewed with the state and the clerk of court, it is no longer a viable debt. If you made a payment during any of this time, the clock begins to toll again. Get a lawyer, you may be able to sue them for ruining your credit.
