Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

judgement on auto

My dad passed away in Feb. 2006 and he left a car,a 2000 Olds..at the time of his death there was a judgement on the money owed on the car. I need to know what to do with the car. Do I keep it and if so how can I get a tag. I have power on atty. to sign for anything in his name. I would like to give my son the car but I don't know if I can. He purchased the car in 2000 and I don't think he made any payments if so it was only a few. Thanks

Re: judgement on auto

Your ability to act in your father's place, as expressed in the power of attorney, expired upon your father's passing. You should contact an attorney who handles probate issues to determine the best course of action.
