Social Security Lien

Does a credit card company or a collection agency have a right to ''garnish'' your social security? I have a company who keeps threatening to do so.

Social security income proceeds are exempt from garnishment, and a garnishment action cannot commence until after a judgment has been entered against you and in favor of the plaintiff.
