unfair collection charge

I went to this model agency ones, they convince me to reserve a sit whit $50, untill I decide to go for the full process of taking photos to be sent to castings in diferent companys, they gave me a proposal were it shows the $50, I never sing a contract or took any photos (she even said :untill you paid at least $100 there's no contract yet) I call the very next day to cancel this agreement loosing the $50 for simply applying; now after more than 2 months i'am receiving this collections letters trying to collect the full price ($445) for samething that it never been done. how can I defend myself? they even threaten me to take me to civil court, can they just do that? help me.

No. You did not sign a contract and you understood that the contract price was $100, not the $400 plus they told you. As well, Florida law allows you to cancel a contract within 3 days after execution.

You need to write a letter to the collection agency and spell out that there is no contract, dispute the amount owed, and ask them to provide you with whatever support documents they have regarding this claim.

Otherwise, meet with an attorney to discuss your rights.
