The collector cannot put a lien on anything. A collector or creditor can hire an attorney and file a lawsuitagainst the debtor or debtors. If a judgment is obtained, a certified copy can be recorded in the public records of the county in which the property is located and it will act as a lien against real property owned by the debtor unless it is the homestead of that party.
