Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

Sixth Admendment?

My son has been in jail for 165 days for felony assult. They have changed his public defender 3 times and he has not once been before a judge because they keep changing his lawyers. Does the sixth Admendment apply here? He is in Santa Rosa County Fl.

Re: Sixth Admendment?

No I dont see any 6th amendment problem. That is the nature of the public system. If you would like to see him get more personal service, you would need to hire private counsel.

Re: Sixth Admendment?

He was brought before a Judge for a first appearance within 24 hours of his arrest, and should have been granted a bail amount. Speedy trial may apply unless waived, but on a felony the State has 180 days before speedy trial time lapses.
