D.U.I. In Florida whiele on vacation.......

I live in NewYork and got a DUI in florida whiele on my vacation. They took my NYC drivers License but when I got back to NY I got my driver lisence bac at the DMV with no problem. If i don't take care of it and I get stopped in Ny would I get arrested? Or am I even allowed to be driving in NYC despite the situation in flordia? Should I continue to live my life as if nothing happened in florida? would they come looking for me?

If you do not "take care of it" by attending your court dates or hiring an attorney to attend on your behalf, the State of Florida will issue a warrant for your arrest. A DUI is a serious charge. It is not a speeding ticket!! As a Florida attorney, I cannot advise you on New York law (and whether you can or cannot drive up there). Typically, in Florida, when my clients receive a DUI, I will apply for a hardship license on their behalf so they can drive to work/school/church, etc., until they have a formal hearing to address their DUI. I would NOT recommend continuing your life as if nothing happended. While the Florida police will not "come looking for you," you will eventually get arrested on that outstanding warrant and it may not be at the best time (i.e., on a date, on a business meeting, on your way to work, etc.). What part of Florida did you get arrested in? If you are interested in speaking with an experienced criminal attorney in Florida, please contact my law office. you must take care of this charge. Never leave a criminal charge open. It could mean possible suspension in NY. Call my offices to set up a free consultation.
