Re: dui ignition interlock

The short answer to your question is yes, you will most likely have to complete the one year of ignition interlock on your vehicle in Florida. The reason why is this: Florida is a member of the Driver License Compact (DLC) and the Non-Resident Violators Compact(NRVC). These acts require a member states to post any traffic offense convictions within their state to the National Driver Register (NDR). The NDR is a nationwide database accessible to all members. From there the Florida Department of Highway Safety will check to see if you received any convictions in another member state (like PA).

In your case, your convictions for DUI in PA required fines, probation and ignition interlock (among other things). If you completed some or none of those requirements PA will tell Florida these things when you apply for your Florida drivers license. Thus, Florida would recognize and honor the PA sentence by simultaneously imposing the penalty on your Florida driving privilege.
