Legal Question in DUI Law in Florida

Sealing or Expunge DUI Charge from 99

19 years old in '99, charged with DWI in Florida, signed a written plea. I've done everything that the courts have asked. I've since completed my law enforcement degree and I'd like to know if a lawyer can help me get this off my record? If not, will it fall off my record, its been almost eight years.

Do I have ANY options? Can I appeal to the judge asking for the charge to be reduced to reckless op, even after the case has been closed?

Expungment of a traffic offense depends on the type of plea taken. If you were adjudicated guilty for DWI it will remain on your record for 75 years. After that time it can be expunged but no sooner. The only way to get a traffic offense expunged is if it was non-adjudicated. It would be impossible to have a judge vacate a previous plea taken eight years ago; and even if you could it wouldn't make a difference anyway in terms of expungment because reckless driving is still considered a traffic offense and unable to be expunged. Sorry.
