Legal Question in Elder Law in Florida

My mother is 70 yrs old and has requested that I take power of attorney for her. She is being drained financialy by extended family members that she is afraid to say "no" to. She lives in New York and I live in Florida. Was recourse do I have to help her?

You can get power of attorney and handle her finances. May be difficult for getting her immediate funds since you are here and she is there. The other thing you might want to do is see if she would like to move here into assisted living if that is an option. If she does NOT have her wits about her, you might apply for a guardianship over her.
