Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Child support

I live in florida and have a child support case in ohio. I requested a review for an increase order due to incorrect information. I received a letter yesterday stating that I have a court date on the 17th of June. I am not able to attend. Is this something that I can attend over the phone? Do I have to get a Lawyer in Ohio or can I some how handle this through the florida courts?

Re: Child support

Hello:

In response to your question....You need to contact the Clerk's Office up there and ask them to give you the Judge's phone #. Call the Judge and ask if you can appear by phone.

You could get a lawyer up there if you desire to.

The only way the case could be seated in Florida Courts is pursuant to the U.C.C.J.A. if the child(ren) was to reside in Florida for at least 6 mos., you could bring the Final Judgment from another State and start a Florida case.

'Hope this helps. Tom Rosenblum
