Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

I'm really confused in my situation and need some help. I am a U.S citizen and last year on November 29th, 2012 I got married in Bangladesh. He is a citizen of Bangladesh, and we got married under the Islamic religion. My first question is am I legally married in the United States? I want a divorce and he's telling me that i would have to go there to sign the papers or he would have to get a visa and come here so I can sign the papers. Is there any other way to get a divorce? He's not trying to help me figure anything out, and it was a mistake to get married so fast. It hasn't been a year yet, so can it still be annulled? Please any advice or any information would be so greatly appreciated. And I am in the U.S.

Thank you for all your time

You could potentially file the case in Florida for divorce if you live here, however if he has never been here and has no FL contacts then you could have a long arm jurisdiction problem. Try filing in FL see what happens.

The US will generally recognize foreign marriages, so I think you are legally married. Both countries probably have jurisdiction to divorce the parties. You should file in Florida, if this is an uncontested action I foresee no problem. If he fights about something this becomes a contested matter; I can see argument over service of process.
