Insurance benificiary

My ex husband,remarried but his second wife woudnt give him a divorce. He has a term policy,which i was removed from after divorce,he named his second wife,then after moving away from her he moved in with our son,who is 25 years old. He changed beneficiary several years ago to son soley. Now his second wife is contesting the claim. He comitted suicide after having ms, and being very depressed.I had been speaking to him quite often in the end. He was not talking to his wife. She however is telling lies and saying he was crazy and didnt know what he was doing when he changed his beneficiary to our son.

It sounds like this is going to be an insurance dispute between whomever the beneficiary ends up being and the insurance company. Irregardless, most insurance companies have provisions in their contracts that claims are invalide in the event of suicide.

The named beneficiary will usually receive the proceeds of the policy at the time of death. Whether the insured person was of sound mind is an issue which will likely be address in Probate and/or Civil Court. This will determine who receives the insurance proceeds.
